Quickstart
Connect an AI client to Pink Editor and make your first calls in a few minutes.
This guide connects an AI client to Pink Editor and walks through the first calls of a session. You need a Pink Editor account (app.edit.pink); new accounts start with 1,000 credits.
1. Connect your client
Pick the line for your client. Each one signs you in on first use, with nothing to paste and nothing to keep secret. To use an API key instead, see Authentication.
| Client | What to do |
|---|---|
| claude.ai, ChatGPT | Add https://app.edit.pink/api/mcp as a custom connector. The client finds the sign-in and asks you to approve once. |
| Claude Desktop | Download editpink.dxt and open it (Node 18 or later must be installed), or add the connector URL above as a custom connector. |
| Claude Code | Run claude mcp add --transport http --scope user pink https://app.edit.pink/api/mcp, then start claude. |
| Cursor | Add the server to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (below). |
| Windsurf | Add the stdio bridge to ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json (below). |
Cursor:
Windsurf (and Claude Desktop, if you prefer a config file to the .dxt):
The signed-in Connect page shows the same snippets, ready to copy. Every client setup is covered in Connect a client.
2. Check it works
Ask your AI: "List my Pink sites." The model calls list_sites and shows each site's id and domain. With the stdio bridge, the first call opens a browser tab to approve a code; approve it, then ask again.
No site yet? Ask it to create one. It calls add_site with your domain, and you become the site's owner.
3. Start a session
Every session begins the same way. Pink's server instructions tell the model to do this on its own, but it helps to know the order:
list_sites: the sites you can work on.select_sitewith asite_id: binds the site and returns its foundation (brand, audiences, goals, calls to action).get_skillwithname: "pink-core": loads Pink's operating playbook, which covers publishing, tool choice and undo.
Clients that support prompts also offer a pink prompt (shown as /pink in Claude Desktop) that starts this for you.
4. Do something useful
Try one of these:
- "What pages have no internal links pointing at them?":
graphwithpredicate: "orphans". Free. - "Pull keyword volumes for sailing holidays, yacht charter, boat rental.":
get_keywords. 1 credit. - "Research what people say about first-time charters on Reddit.":
researchinredditmode. 10 credits, takes 30 to 60 seconds. - "Write and publish the page on charter costs.":
add_article. Writing and publishing are free; questions researched during the run are billed as research. See Credits.
Changed something you didn't want? Ask the model to undo it: undo reverses the last call or the last turn.
What's next
- Authentication: OAuth, API keys and site roles.
- Sessions and publishing: how a session binds a site, and how
add_articleruns. - Tool reference: every tool with its input schema.
- Credits and pricing: what costs what.
